Terror attack at Boston Marathon

(CNN) -- Authorities including bomb experts searched an apartment in Revere, Massachusetts, and removed items, after two deadly bombs struck the Boston Marathon. But investigators remained mum about just how the search may be linked to the bombing investigation.

The search late Monday involved a "person of interest," the Revere Fire Department said on its Facebook page. The FBI; the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; immigration officials, state and local police, detectives and bomb techs all took part, the fire department said. The search, just north of Boston, took place with consent, so no search warrant was needed, a federal law enforcement official told CNN.

Tiny clues may help lead to who was behind the terrorist attack that killed three people and wounded 144. Investigators are beginning the painstaking process of piecing through fragments for anything that could indicate the "signature," said a federal law enforcement official who works in the intelligence community.

Unexploded devices that were recovered could also provide a treasure trove of information such as fingerprints and indications of how the exploded bombs were designed, the official said.

There were two such devices that did not detonate, said U.S. Rep. Bill Keating of Massachusetts. One was found near the bomb site at a hotel on Boylston Street; the other was found at an undisclosed location, said Keating, a member of the House Homeland Security committee. Keating called the bombings a "sophisticated, coordinated, planned attack."

A federal law enforcement official told CNN that both bombs that did explode were small, and initial tests showed no C-4 or other high-grade explosive material, suggesting the packages used in the attack were crude devices.

The FBI is taking the lead in investigating the attack near the marathon's finish line.

  1. I think that it's something that nobody should ever have to go through. The news had said that a foreign president, or prime minister was the target. That could be possible, but I think that whoever did it was just trying to hurt a bunch of people.

  2. I think its horrible that someone would do something like this. I hope the police find who ever did set of this bomb. Because this attack has forever changed the lives of people who were in the area of the blast.

  3. I think people now a days are just pure stupid. There were kids involved in this marathon. Who does that? Must have been terrorists for sure. I'd hope they get some kind of punishment for it.

  4. They won't get away scot-free... My concern is that the government will use this incident as an excuse to push for more and more invasions of our privacy and freedom. Every time something like this happens the government pushes further and further past the Constitution. They argue that it's necessary for security, but my response to that is a quote from one of our founding fathers:

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

  5. I think this should never happen. Youtube should block these videos and report it too the FBI. Only our gov. should know how too make these bombs. Not like this crazy guy that wanted too blow up us people. What will happen if a kid gets hold of this info and builds one and blows up a school?

  7. I think that it is a sad thing that innocent people got killed and wounded by the bombs. The people that were involved in the bombing should get in trouble. They should got to jail forever. The older brother had been talked to by the police before. HE should of been sent back to his country.

  8. I think its horrible what happened to them, so many lives lost. The eight year old touched me, I feel it touched everybody. Imagine how his parents feel, he won't be able to grow up and know how it feels to be a parent. I hope the people that did it look back and feel bad for how many lives they ruined.

  9. I believe that the two young men that caused the bombing in Boston were very STUPID! I can't see why anyone in their right mind would purpousely try to not only hurt but kill innocent people. Not only in the U.S. but around the world the same thing is happening to people or they are seeing it happen around them. I just see no need for bombing or terrisum or anything along that line. We are in civil times. Everyone needs to start acting like it or something very bad might be the consequence.

  10. I believe that true justice will be brought to the surviving brother and the three other men arrested for obstruction of justice. . I do believe that if there is any good that can come out of this, it is that the problems that were found within our government. One of the problems is that I one of the three arrested, were in the U.S. on a school visa. This visa was expired, because the man was not able to keep up his grades to stay at the school. I hope justice can be brought to men involved with the bombing and closure to the family that have lost ones or lost limbs.

  11. I cannot believe that 2 people are sick enough to go to a charity event where they are raising money to help the weaker and can bomb innocent children, women and men. That disgusts me and I hope justice is brought to the surviving brother. I do, however, think this is a learning experience that even in what should be the safest times when we are trying to do good in the world that there are sick people out there and Americans have to take more precautions. Can't imagine what traumatising times the victims of the bombing and family member are going through.
