Gen. Ray Odierno , the top U.S. military official in Iraq, says about 4,000 U.S. troops, roughly the size of an Army brigade, will be brought home from Iraq by the end of October as the pullout from the six-year war continues. Odierno is announcing the drawdown -- to about 120,000 troops -- at a House Armed Services Committee hearing today. The Associated Press obtained a copy of his prepared remarks. Odierno also says the monthly number of attacks in Iraq has dropped dramatically over the past two years -- from more than 4,000 in August 2007 to about 600 last month.
I think that is a very good idea to start sending home the troops from iraq.It has been a very long time that the war has been going for and i think it is time for us to take the troops out.Because the government is starting to get stable because of the elections.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a good idea to bring home the 4,000 troops from Iraq. It says that Iraq is doing a lot better from 4,000 attacks in 2007 to 600 attacks this last month. I think that there is no reason to keep them there since that is such a dramatic change.
ReplyDeleteI agree with cole....since after Bush is out of office i think its time to pull the troops back to america because its been how many years since they've been gone?...too many. The president doesnt know how it is to actually fight in a war let alone be away from ur family and normal life for months let alone years
ReplyDeleteI think it will be very good idea to start bring home troops because it is pointless to have all them troops over there when we have the situation pretty much handled. I also think it will we great to bring some troops home. And I think it is awesome that the attacks from Iraq have dropped from 4,000 to only 600.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you darren. They made the choice to join the army. They knew wat they were getting into. Besides they dont care they're fighting for our country. By the way most presidents were in the army at one point or another. They know wat its like. They don't just send people there for the fun of it. they do whatever it takes to keep our freedom.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with Tommy. True it is nice for the troops to come home, and be able to be with their families again. Like tommy said more presidents have been in the army, so they do know what they are doing. And not only are they keeping our freedom, but they are also helping stable iraqs govt...The troops knew what they were signing up for and that was to protect and to serve...
ReplyDeleteSince the troops in Iraq have gotten smaller and the increase in good change has taken place, i also think it's a good idea to bring 4,000 troops home. Over the years it's gotten easier and easier in different ways and if they got it taken care of, then they shouldn't need so many troops. I think alot of people agree with this change because it's taken a good effect on how the war in Iraq is going.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tommy in some ways. They did make the choice to join the army. I don't think they fully knew what they were getting themselves into though. They made a commitment to protect our freedom. I do think that if things are getting better we don't need to keep so many troops there. All in all I think pulling out 4000 troops is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteim kind of in the middle with all you guys. cause it would be a real good idea to start bring people back home to their families where they are safe. cause honestly i dont see how the wars are helping with anything cause it all started with them targeting the twin towers and we were upset with how many people died. when just sending all those people over there to fight just makes more peoples lives at risk. but then again they did sign up for it and if that is really what they wanted to do with their lives then i guess thats really up to them aint it?. but as time goes on more and more people will come home cause if things are gonna keep goin how they are right now then eventually this will all be over. so im kind of half and half on this one.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good idea to bring home the 4,000 troops. The rate of attacks per month has decreased dramatically over the past two years. Dani I agree with you, I don't think it is a good idea to send more troops over when we already have so many there. It would just make more families worry and if the rate of attacks is going down then i don't see the point.
ReplyDeleteI think its a great idea to bring home troops. the amount of attacks has gone down . we should just slowly take out them out until there is hardly any attacks. but we cant forget about afganistan. the more troops we take out of iraq, we should put into afganistan.
ReplyDeletei think it is the best thing the president has done for the war right now. if he brings 4,000 more troops home it will put the death raiting lower than what it already is. now if the president sends troops back to afganistan, he will be puting the death rate higher than what it is. i mean do we want to sacrifice all those lives or would you want to bring them home and let the president make a comprimise with afganistan to stop the war.
ReplyDeletei think that obama bringing 4,ooo troops home is the best idea right now, the goverment is staring to hold together and we have been there to long, for what seems like pointless resoning. plus im sure that the familys of the troops would be very pleased to see there family members.
